The Talos L120C is a 20-120 kV thermionic (scanning) transmission electron microscope uniquely designed for performance and productivity across a wide range of samples and applications, such as 2D and 3D imaging of cells, cell organelles, asbestos, polymers, and soft materials, both at ambient and cryogenic temperatures. The Talos L120C is designed from the ground up to allow users at any skill level to acquire high-quality results with minimal effort. Fast, sophisticated automation and advanced 3D imaging workflows allow applied researchers to focus on scientific questions rather than microscope operation.

Multi-User, Multi-Material, Multi-Discipline

With its optional, motorized, retractable cryo box and low-dose technique, the Talos L120C's imaging quality of beam-sensitive materials is taken to the next level. To enhance productivity, especially in multi-user, multi-material environments, the constant-power objective lenses and low-hysteresis design allow for straightforward reproducible mode and high-tension switches.

The large C-Twin pole piece gap-giving highest flexibility in applications-combined with a reproducibly performing electron column opens new opportunities for high-resolution 3D characterization, in situ dynamic observations, and diffraction applications with a special emphasis on high-contrast imaging and cryo-TEM.

 

Automation and Ease of use

Most setup and alignment functions are automated, and users can change optical conditions quickly without tedious manual adjustments. Completely redesigned ergonomics and a SmartCam screening camera ensure operator comfort and permit remote operation when needed. The Talos L120C also features educational online help. Simply pressing F1 with the mouse hovering over a control panel quickly opens relevant information.

Ultra-stable optics and streamlined workflows for advanced 2D and 3D imaging applications, such as electron tomography, at cryo or ambient temperatures, deliver fast, repeatable results. MAPS™ software automatically acquires and stitches multiple images into a large-field composite image, allowing for fast and easy correlation with images from other instruments. 

When taken altogether, these elements make the Talos L120 the ideal instrument for the imaging and characterization of low-contrasted, soft, or inorganic materials, as well as being a robust, easy-to-use instrument for organic materials.
