Thermo Scientific Krios G3i Cryo-TEM

The new Thermo Scientific™ Krios™ G3i Cryo Transmission Electron Microscope (Cryo-TEM) enables life science researchers to unravel life at the molecular level—easier, faster, and more reliably than ever before. Thermo Scientific Glacios Cryo-TEM

The new Thermo Scientific™ Glacios™ Cryo Transmission Electron Microscope (Cryo-TEM) delivers a complete and affordable Cryo-EM solution to a broad range of scientists. The Glacios Cryo-TEM features the same innovative automation for ease of use as found on the Krios G3i Cryo-TEM, and it bundles it into a small footprint that simplifies installation.

The Glacios Cryo-TEM is designed to be integrated into a single particle analysis workflow with the new Krios G3i Cryo-TEM, optimizing sample quality in the Glacios Cryo-TEM before acquiring the ultimate-quality data in the Krios G3i Cryo-TEM. Furthermore the Glacios Cryo-TEM can also be configured to be a complete standalone SPA data acquisition solution.

In either case, designed-in connectivity always provides a robust and risk-free pathway throughout the entire workflow, from sample preparation and optimization to image acquisition and data processing.

Single Particle Analysis Workflow

The Thermo Scientific™ single particle analysis (SPA) workflow enables scientists to determine the three-dimensional structure of proteins and protein complexes at near-atomic resolution. Reconstructed from images of thousands of isolated identical particles, 3D models can routinely achieve resolutions better than 3 Ångströms. One of the greatest advantages of cryo-electron microscopy relative to conventional structural biology techniques is its ability to analyze large, complex, and flexible structures. Often, these cannot be crystallized for X-ray crystallography or are too large and complex for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. These include many biologically important proteins, especially those with variable or flexible structures like membrane proteins.
