Digital Imaging and Ultrasonics for NDT 2018

Location : Mashantucket, USA

Date : June 26 - June 28, 2018

CMI Workshops and Training

The workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about volume image registration and image correlation across modalities in theory and in hands-on sessions. Topics include rigid and affine transformations, elastic transformations, intensity-, landmark- & surface-based registrations, and digital volume correlation – all of which are demonstrated using real-life examples. Prior knowledge in image correlation is not necessary; basic familiarity with imaging and imaging software is an asset.

The workshop is hosted by BioImaging Austria/CMI that specializes in correlative imaging; Thermo Fisher Scientific that offers ready-to-use software solutions for data correlation with Thermo Scientific™ Amira™ Software; VRVis, a center for virtual reality and visualization with high expertise in data reconstruction; and Vetmeduni Vienna that has hosted similar workshops previously.

Location : Vienna, AUSTRIA

Date : June 28 - June 29, 2018

Zebrafish Disease Models Society

The Zebrafish Disease Models Society (ZDMS) is an international association dedicated to the advancement of basic and clinical research using zebrafish disease models. Established in 2014, ZDMS is a non-profit, independent, member-led association which serves individuals actively involved in the research of zebrafish disease models by promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration. We hope to foster international relationships and diverse interactions in the zebrafish academic, clinical and industrial research communities.

SHORTCAST: Cryo-electron microscopy helps understanding protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases

Ricardo Guerrero-Ferreira, Center for Cellular Imaging and NanoAnalytics (C-CINA), Basel, Switzerland and Rubén Fernández-Busnadiego, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany will present their cryo-EM work on α-synuclein fibril structure and tomography of toxic protein aggregates inside cells. By applying cryo-electron microscopy, their research lays the groundwork for a more comprehensive mechanistic understanding of aggregate-associated neurodegenerative diseases: Topic #1: Structure of alpha-synuclein fibrils by cryo-electron microscopy Topic #2: Unraveling the structure of toxic protein aggregates in situ by cryo-electron microscopy

Date : July 12, 2018
