FEI 2010 Owner Image Contest - Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

1. Any person 18 years of age or older who either owns or has access and permission to use an FEI microscope is eligible, with the exception of FEI employees and their families.
2. Registration on FEI.com as an owner or user is required to enter.
3. Images must be taken on an FEI instrument. Submitted images must contain the FEI data bar to be considered.

Images

1. Original black & white or colorized images are permitted. FEI reserves the right to colorize images used in the calendar for artistic impression.
2. All types of samples and microscopy techniques are acceptable.
3. Images must be:
   1. Uploaded via the entry form at www.fei.com/owners/imagecontest between February 15 - July 16, 2010.
   2. Maximum uploaded file size is 1MB.
   3. Image must be in .jpg format.
   4. Please submit the highest quality image with regard to file size, bit depth, and resolution. Image must be capable of being scaled to 500px wide and maintain high-quality.
4. No limitations on the number of images that registered owners and users can submit.
5. There is no purchase necessary to participate.

Winners

1. Entries will be judged on:
   1. Originality
   2. Technical Proficiency
   3. Visual Impact/Creativity
   4. Popularity
2. Entries must be received no later than July 16, 2010 to be eligible for prizes.
3. 12 finalists will be selected; one per month for technical merit (6 total), one per month based on popularity on Flickr (6 total).
4. Monthly winners:
   1. Technical merit monthly winners will be selected by a panel of FEI applications experts.
   2. The monthly popular vote winner will be determined by the most views on Flickr.
5. Grand prize winners:
   1. Technical merit grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of FEI applications experts.
   2. Most popular grand prize winner will be determined by largest number of votes received on fei.com and through text voting at M&M.
6. Monthly winners will be announced on the 20th of each month, and posted to fei.com.
7. Grand prize winners will be announced August 16, 2010.
8. The decision of FEI's panel of judges and the popular vote will be final.
9. All entries will be retained by FEI Company and can be used in promotional material both online and in print and may include appropriate credits. By entering the contest, you are giving non-exclusive rights to FEI Company to use your name and the image.

Prizes

1. The twelve (12) monthly winners and the two (2) grand prize winners will be notified by FEI via e-mail or phone.
2. Each monthly winner will receive an iPod nano, and will be featured in the 2011 FEI Corporate Calendar, published in January, 2011.
3. Each monthly winner will receive one (1) 2011 FEI Corporate Calendar.
4. The two grand prize winners will receive two (2) round-trip international airline tickets*. Ticketing will be coordinated and booked through FEI’s corporate travel agency partner.
