Emily
Scientist
"We developed a new electron source in just 9 months. Now every result we produce presents us with a half a dozen new research options."
What does Emily have to say about working at FEI?
The success of this company is very much tied to our technology leadership, so there’s a lot of opportunity to pursue innovative ideas. Our group filed 10 invention disclosures in just the past year and we see enormous potential for future development. If you’re smart, creative and dedicated, you’ll feel right at home here.
You might think science is science, no matter where it’s practiced, but that’s only partially true. We work as part of a global team, and it’s been fascinating to see how scientists in different cultures approach problem solving. Of course, there are challenges to collaborating across cultural boundaries. It’s hard to develop close working relationships via phone and email, especially when there’s a large time difference. That’s why visiting is so useful. It helps us “get the job done,” develop friendships and maintain positive working relationships. That’s an indication of how much this company values the collaboration of its scientists. And that’s another reason I think we’ll continue to attract and keep some of the most talented people in the world.
